Achieve Your Goals by Being Healthy & Happy in the New Year

The end of the year sneaked up on me! I blinked and we’re already in the last few days of December…. How did this happened?!

This time of the year is equally exciting and scary for many of us entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs as we come face to face with the cruel truth: did we met our 2016 goals? How are we planning 2017?

Do not fret my friends, I got you! As a holistic nutritionist, health & wellness entrepreneur, and influencer, I have a LOT on my plate… I have my signature detox program which launches every January, creating valuable content for my audience and the brands I collaborate with, my regular guest gigs in TV and written media, all while trying to find balance as a newlywed.

2016 was a pivotal year for me. I exponentially grew my business, monetization power and exposure because… guess what? Last year I was very intentional when planning my goals. So, when Amanda asked me to write about this subject, I was super excited because I’m a firm believer in the power of planning goals for the new year.

Let’s get to it shall we? Here are 7 suggestions for the New Year:

1. Make your health a priority!

Trust me on this. There’s NO POINT in doing any of the below points or planning anything if you are not healthy enough to pursue your goals. We, as entrepreneurs, are so used to just go, go, go that we only think about our health when we don’t have it and sometimes that’s too late! Please tell me: how do you plan to crush your new year’s goals if you can’t even get out of bed?

Tip: Educate yourself when it comes to health. Eat more fruits & veggies, wholesome foods as close to mother nature as possible, allocate time to exercise at least 30 mins, 3 times per week, keep yourself hydrated, and rest! Follow people who inspire you to be healthier and who know what they’re talking about. Say “no” to fad diets and six pack challenges. Being healthy is not a trend, but a lifestyle!

2. Stop giving your business “part-time” effort and expecting “full-time” results!

Decide NOW that 2017 will be the year you’ll start treating your business as your full time job (even if you have a 9-5 and your business is a side hustle). Map out the amount of hours you are willing to commit per week and stick to it!

Tip: Break down the hours per day. It will be easier and seem more doable to assign 4 hours per day to your business instead of looking at 80 hours monthly. The more you break it down, the better.

3. Have a general idea of how you want your 2017 to go, but break down your goals quarterly.

Why oh why would we want to stress ourselves so much by trying to figure out the WHOLE year ahead of us when we couldn’t even figure out breakfast this morning?

Tip: Again, break down those awesome goals you have on a quarterly basis. Let’s go one step at time and assign 3-5 goals per quarter only.

4. Audit the time you have assigned for your business and commit to it!

Be very practical about things. That time between when the traditional work day ends and when you fall asleep is the white space to do great things. Whether that’s advancing your career by staying in the office late, or going home and building out your blog, or creating the copy to reach out to potential clients for your project, I ask that you utilize that time more wisely in 2017 and be CONSISTENT.

5. Vision board it!

I cannot stress how important is to have a visual reminder of what you want to happen in the upcoming new year. It doesn’t have to be materials things. You can create your vision board with feelings and sensations… feeling secure, happy and fulfilled has nothing to do with material things, but we do need strategy to get there. Even in the Bible, we are called to “write it down” so that we can make it happen.

And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:2

Tip: Grab all your old magazines and then go to your nearest target or dollar store to arm yourself with all the goodies you need to create an awesome vision board to keep yourself visually aligned with your goals.

6. Accept that you don’t have all the answers my friend!

Yup, you don’t and neither do I. That’s why it’s crucial to accept help from professionals. Please don’t try to figure out everything by yourself; it’s not healthy, it’s not practical, and you won’t be able to manage it all anyways.

Tip: Focus on what you feel is your strength. When it comes to your business and your goals, allow yourself to be helped by others. Maybe you need help with your business/personal finances, visuals for your blog, or a coach for your health goals. I’m pretty sure that there’s someone out there that could use your expertise as well. Offer your services for “in kind” services in return. Hey, whatever takes you closer to your goals, ok? Get out there and be intentional about finding people to support your journey… You are not alone in this and accepting help from others is a HUGE step. Help and support will allow room to breath and focus on being more productive to achieve the goals you have for 2017.

7. Be grateful in advance for the amazing year you’ll have and enjoy the process!

I promise that if you follow the above 7 tips when planning your 2017, then you will be very well on your way to your best year yet as an entrepreneur.
